THE PROBLEM
People don’t realize the dangers that can go with flying drones. The number of drone users is increasing exponentially and nowadays Law Enforcement has no tools or technologies to enforce FAA rules.

THE GOALS

  • Create a seamless process for collecting information about illegal drone activities.
  • Develop a way to monitor & process illegal drone flights.
  • Create intuitive desktop and mobile apps for Call-Takers & Dispatchers.
  • Create a seamless and intuitive app for Law Enforcement Officers.

PERSONAS
There are three main categories of people who’d be using this app: 1) Law Enforcement Officers 2) 911 Call-takers & dispatchers 3) Firefighters.

FEATURE PRIORITIZATION
We conducted feature prioritization to help us take all the information that we synthesized from our research and clarify what are the key features we needed in each screen for 911 dispatches in the office and the LEOs out in the field.

Feature prioritization helped to define the exact list of features for all categories of target users, for both the desktop and mobile apps. We then did a lot of sketching and ideation to structure this complicated flow of information into simple and intuitive desktop and mobile products.

USER FLOW
After research, feature prioritization, and information architecture we came up with this user flow which involves different users of both desktop and mobile apps.

DESIGN STUDIO & SKETCHES
Since this project had such a huge scope, the design studio helped us concentrate on building an MVP that would be the foundation of the JDx software. We did a lot of ideating on what the dispatchers and first responders would need in the platform.

USER TESTING & FEEDBACK
We got this truly rewarding feedback after testing the applications with our top target users and it was great to know that the solution met their expectations and could become a helpful tool for them.
